NRSWA and highway capability
NRSWA-qualified operatives and supervisors deliver the highway work. NPORS-certificated plant operators and project-specific Chapter 8 arrangements support them.
AFS carries out main sewer connections across Surrey for homes, businesses and development sites. We support Section 106 applications and work on roads or private land. Our teams install gravity and pumped connections, chambers and pipework, then complete the reinstatement.
A Surrey sewer connection needs a safe route, suitable levels and the correct approvals. It also needs an experienced drainage team to coordinate the work.
AFS supports main sewer connection projects across Guildford, Farnham, Woking, Godalming, Haslemere, Cranleigh, Dorking, Reigate, Redhill, Leatherhead, Epsom, Camberley and surrounding Surrey areas.
Our drainage and civils team includes NRSWA-qualified Street Works operatives and supervisors. NPORS-certificated plant operators support them. Once the project licences and approvals are in place, we can excavate on roads or private land. We also install foul drainage and chambers, make the connection, backfill and reinstate the surface.
Gravity drainage is not always practical. In those cases, AFS can assess and install a foul pumping station and rising main. The system can also include controls, telemetry and emergency storage.

We liaise on sewer records and the proposed connection point. We also support Section 106 applications, inspection requirements and final sign-off.
AFS installs drainage pipework, chambers and approved connections. Where gravity is unsuitable, we can install a foul pumping station and rising main.
We start with the sewer records, drawings and proposed connection point. We then check the route, levels, Section 106 requirements and any highway permissions. Traffic management, inspections and reinstatement are also agreed before construction starts.
We review the sewer records, site levels, route, access and existing services. This confirms whether a gravity or pumped solution is suitable.
We support the Section 106 process. Where required, we also coordinate Section 50 or other highway permissions, traffic management and Chapter 8 planning.
Our team completes the agreed excavation, chambers, pipework and connection. We coordinate the inspections, test the system, backfill, reinstate the surface and hand the work over.
The final scope is agreed around actual site conditions and the project-specific requirements of the sewerage undertaker and highway authority.
A major AFS foul-drainage project for Surrey County Council demonstrates our public-sewer, pumping-station and highway capability.
AFS delivered a major foul-drainage and sewer-connection project for Surrey County Council at Newlands Corner near Guildford.
The scheme included a new foul-water pumping station with twin sewage pumps in a duty/standby arrangement. A wet well of approximately 1.8 m diameter provided about 9 m³ of emergency storage. AFS also installed the controls, telemetry and a rising main of approximately 1.5 kilometres.
The final connection required Thames Water Section 106 consent and Section 50 highway licensing. Chapter 8 traffic management was also required. AFS coordinated the 150 mm foul connection into the 225 mm public foul sewer in Trodd’s Lane.
NRSWA-qualified Street Works personnel and NPORS-certificated plant operators supported the work. The project also required technical submissions, hydraulic calculations and liaison with the relevant authority teams.
A second completed AFS project demonstrates road excavation, public-sewer chamber work and reinstatement.
At a commercial property in Farnham, AFS completed a new main sewer connection. The excavation ran through the road and inside the property boundary.
AFS built a new manhole over the public sewer and a demarcation chamber inside the boundary. We installed new clay drainage between the chambers, completed the connection, backfilled the excavation and reinstated the surface.

Alton Facility Services carries out sewer connections across Surrey for homes, businesses and development sites. Our work includes surveys, excavation, chambers, pipework, connection works and reinstatement.
Usually, yes. The sewerage undertaker controls the connection. It may require drawings, consent and an inspection before or during the work.
Yes. AFS uses NRSWA-qualified Street Works operatives and supervisors. NPORS-certificated plant operators support them. All work remains subject to the project approvals, highway permissions and traffic-management requirements.
Yes. We liaise on sewer records, proposed connection points and Section 106 applications. We also coordinate inspection requirements and final sign-off. The sewerage undertaker remains responsible for granting consent or approval.
Yes, once the required project-specific highway licence or permit is in place. AFS can carry out the roadworks and coordinate Chapter 8 signing, guarding and traffic management. We also complete the excavation and reinstatement.
Yes. AFS can install a foul pumping station and rising main when site levels, distance or depth make a gravity connection unsuitable.
Yes, if the drawings and approval details are clear. We may still need a site visit to confirm the depth, access, services and reinstatement.
Send the project details or call the AFS team. We will confirm what information, approvals or site visit are needed.
