Sewer records and Section 106
We review the proposed connection point and support the relevant sewerage-undertaker application and inspection process.
AFS delivers main sewer connection works across Berkshire for domestic, commercial and development projects. We support sewer records, Section 106 applications, road or private-land excavation, pipework, chambers and reinstatement.
Berkshire projects must account for the correct sewerage undertaker and the highway authority responsible for the road. Route, levels and existing services are checked before the construction scope is agreed.
Our Berkshire coverage includes Reading, Newbury, Thatcham, Wokingham, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, Slough, Hungerford and nearby areas.
AFS uses NRSWA-qualified Street Works operatives and supervisors, supported by NPORS-certificated plant operators. Subject to the required site-specific approvals, we can undertake excavation, drainage installation, chambers, public-sewer connection works, backfill and reinstatement.
Where a gravity fall is unavailable, AFS can assess a foul pumping station and rising main. This can avoid impractical excavation depths on long or difficult routes.
We review the proposed connection point and support the relevant sewerage-undertaker application and inspection process.
Berkshire has several highway authorities. We identify the road owner and support the correct licence, road-space and traffic-management process.
AFS can undertake excavation, chambers, gravity or pumped drainage, connection works, backfill and reinstatement.
We begin with the sewer records, proposed connection point, levels and route. We then check the Section 106, highway, traffic-management and inspection requirements for the site.
We check sewer records, route, levels, access, existing services and whether gravity drainage is practical.
We support the Section 106 process and establish the site-specific highway licence, road-space and traffic-management requirements.
Our team completes the agreed excavation, chambers, pipework and connection. We coordinate inspections, test the system and reinstate the affected surfaces.
Construction starts only after the required project approvals and licences are confirmed. The completed work is tested, inspected where required and handed over with the agreed reinstatement complete.
The authority responsible for an adopted road changes across Berkshire.
Reading, West Berkshire, Wokingham, Bracknell Forest, Windsor and Maidenhead, and Slough manage their own adopted highway networks. The correct application route depends on the site address and road ownership.
AFS confirms the project requirements before programming road excavation. This can include Section 50 support, road-space booking, Chapter 8 arrangements, traffic management and a specified reinstatement method.
Our role is to support and deliver the practical work. The relevant authority remains responsible for issuing its licence or permit.
The most practical system depends on the connection depth, route length and site levels.
A gravity connection is preferred where the required fall can be maintained without excessive excavation. AFS can install the foul drainage, inspection chambers and approved public-sewer connection.
Where gravity is unsuitable, we can assess a package foul pumping station and rising main. The design can include duty/standby pumps, controls, alarms, telemetry and emergency storage where required.

Alton Facility Services carries out domestic, commercial and development sewer connection works across Berkshire. Our scope includes route assessment, excavation, chambers, pipework, connections and reinstatement.
The sewerage undertaker responsible for the public sewer controls the connection approval. The site address and sewer records must be checked before the application is prepared.
Yes, once the required project-specific highway licence and road-space arrangements are in place. AFS uses NRSWA-qualified Street Works personnel and coordinates the applicable traffic-management requirements.
Yes. We establish which highway authority controls the road and follow the application and reinstatement requirements that apply to that location.
Yes. We can assess and install a foul pumping station and rising main when a gravity connection is not practical.
Yes. AFS supports homes, commercial premises and development sites, subject to the required capacity checks, approvals and construction information.
Send the project details or call the AFS team. We will confirm what information, approvals or site visit are needed.
