Alton Facility Services has recently completed a full replacement sewage treatment plant installation at a residential property in Farnham, providing the homeowners with a modern and reliable wastewater treatment solution.
The project involved replacing the existing system, installing a new Kingspan sewage treatment plant, connecting the property’s drainage into the new setup and creating a new drainage field to support the treated discharge.
A Complete Wastewater System Replacement
Our groundworks and drainage team attended the property with the labour, machinery and specialist equipment required to complete the installation from start to finish.
The works included:
Excavating and installing a new Kingspan sewage treatment plant
Connecting the property's existing drainage into the new system
Installing a new drainage field
Completing the necessary electrical installation
Backfilling the new treatment plant with concrete in line with installation requirements
Safely infilling the old tank
Reinstating disturbed areas
Removing excess spoil from site
With the installation now complete, the property has been left with a fully functioning modern wastewater treatment system designed to provide a more dependable long-term solution.
Why Replace an Older Sewage Treatment System?
Private drainage systems play an essential role at properties that are not connected to the mains sewer.
Over time, older septic tanks and treatment systems can become inefficient, damaged or unsuitable for the requirements of the property.
Replacing an ageing system with a modern sewage treatment plant can offer several benefits, including:
Improved wastewater treatment
Greater reliability
Reduced risk of breakdowns and drainage problems
Improved environmental performance
A system better suited to the needs of the property
Greater peace of mind for the homeowner
Modern treatment plants are designed to treat wastewater before it is discharged, helping properties manage sewage more effectively while supporting responsible wastewater disposal.
Installing the New Drainage Field
As part of the project, our team also installed a new drainage field.
A drainage field allows treated wastewater to disperse safely into the ground through a network of underground pipes.
Correct design and installation are essential to ensure wastewater can disperse effectively and to reduce the risk of standing water, poor drainage or system failure.
By completing both the treatment plant installation and drainage field works as part of the same project, our team was able to provide the customer with a complete private drainage solution.
From Excavation to Reinstatement
Projects of this type involve much more than simply placing a new tank in the ground.
Careful excavation, drainage connections, electrical work, concrete backfilling and reinstatement all need to be coordinated correctly to ensure the system operates as intended.
Once the new Kingspan treatment plant and drainage field had been installed, the existing tank was safely infilled and the disturbed areas were made good.
The excess spoil generated during the excavation was also removed from site, leaving the property ready to move forward with its new wastewater system in place.
