This update includes a YouTube video from Alton Facility Services.

Alton Facility Services recently completed the installation of a new septic tank at Oxted Fire Station.

The project involved working within the footprint of the existing septic tank area, allowing the team to make practical use of the available space while keeping the works efficient and reducing unnecessary disruption to the wider site.

The Challenge

The existing septic tank arrangement was no longer suitable for continued use and required replacement.

Because the new system needed to be installed within the available area, the project required careful planning to ensure the old tank space could be adapted safely and effectively.

Key considerations included:

Working within a restricted existing footprint
Safely breaking into the old septic tank area
Managing excavation and access requirements
Positioning the new tank correctly
Minimising disruption to fire station operations
Reinstating the area once installation was complete
Our Response

Our groundwork and drainage teams prepared the site and brought in the appropriate equipment to complete the excavation works.

The existing septic tank space was opened up and prepared for the replacement system. The new tank was then positioned and installed within the available area, making effective use of the existing layout.

Once the installation was complete, the team backfilled around the new system and carried out the final reinstatement works, leaving the area safe, secure and ready for use.

The Outcome

The project was completed successfully, providing Oxted Fire Station with a reliable new septic tank system while making efficient use of the existing site infrastructure.

The completed works delivered:

Removal and adaptation of the existing septic tank area
Installation of a new septic tank
Efficient use of the available footprint
Controlled excavation and groundwork works
Secure backfilling around the new system
Full reinstatement of the surrounding area
A dependable long-term wastewater solution
