Driveway Sinkhole Investigation in Farnham

⚠️ Would you know what to do if this appeared on your driveway?

Stu was called out to a property in Farnham after a sinkhole appeared — for the second time.

On investigation, he located a 4” pipe running beneath the area at roughly 2 metres deep. The pipe itself showed no visible defects, which means the cause may be deeper within the ground and now requires excavation to fully investigate.

Sinkholes can be a sign that something is moving, washing away or failing beneath the surface — and they should never be ignored.

What do you think could be causing it

If you notice a dip, hole, cracking or movement around your driveway, garden or drainage area, get it checked before it becomes a bigger problem.

Why early drainage investigation matters

The update “Driveway Sinkhole Investigation in Farnham” highlights a common drainage lesson: the visible blockage is not always the full problem. Grease, roots, damaged joints and poor falls can all cause repeat failures.

AFS can clear the immediate restriction and then check whether further investigation is justified. A CCTV survey can show cracks, displaced joints, root ingress or collapsed sections that cannot be confirmed from the surface.

The aim is to match the response to the fault. Some sites need jetting and routine maintenance. Others need a local repair, relining or replacement pipework.

If you have a similar issue, send the postcode, a short description and any useful photos to AFS. We can then confirm whether a site visit, survey, service appointment or written quotation is the right next step.
