Understanding the Sewage Treatment Plant Process
The process of sewage treatment via a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) offers a more sophisticated approach than traditional Septic Tanks. By incorporating mechanical elements, STPs are able to provide additional steps in the treatment sequence, enhancing the breakdown of solids. This results in the production of an effluent that is not only cleaner but also more conducive to environmental sustainability.
How It Works
Wastewater and sewage, collected from multiple sources, are initially directed to the primary settlement tank. It's here that the first phase of separation occurs, distinguishing solids from liquids. Following this, the liquid portion progresses to the biozone chamber. This crucial stage involves the activation of a pump that aerates the waste, stimulating the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria. These microorganisms play a pivotal role in decomposing the organic matter, thereby purifying the effluent.
Upon exiting the biozone chamber, the treated water moves to the final stage, known as the humus chamber. It is at this point that the effluent achieves a remarkable level of cleanliness, typically around 95%, making it suitable for release into local ecosystems such as watercourses, ditches, or land drainage systems. However, such discharge is contingent upon obtaining the necessary approvals from environmental regulatory bodies.
Maintenance and Servicing
At Alton Facility Services, we pride ourselves on our expertise in the upkeep of small-scale Sewage Treatment Plants. Regular servicing is imperative to ensure that the mechanical components of your STP remain in optimal condition. Furthermore, it's essential to undertake annual emptying of the plant to remove the sludge that naturally accumulates, ensuring the system operates efficiently.
Whether you're in need of routine maintenance, urgent servicing, or simply seeking advice on domestic sewage management, our team is ready to provide a fast, friendly, and efficient service. With extensive experience in the field, we're equipped to handle all aspects of your Sewage Treatment Plant needs.
